When facing the greatest challenges of my life, I found a way to persevere and carry on. Through it all, I learned a valuable lesson about myself and what I am capable of.
At first, working in Hollywood felt like a dream. I built a 16-year career in the film and TV industry, starting in a prop house and working my way up to prop master on major productions. I loved what I did, but over time, I became increasingly aware of how deeply nepotism ran in the industry. Talent and dedication didn’t seem to matter as much as who you knew.
In 2011, while finishing work on a film, I had the worst experience of my career. I was treated terribly by the person above me, and it finally clicked: I don’t need to keep doing this. In the movie world, you’re just a number. No one cares that you’re working 14-hour days or that you have a family waiting at home. I realized I wanted a career where I could actually make a difference in someone’s life—and still have time to enjoy my own.

I called a friend I hadn’t spoken to in years, who I remembered had worked in lending. He told me he was now a REALTOR®. I wasn’t sure that was the right path for me, but he said, “Come to my open house—I’ll show you what it’s all about.” I went, somewhat reluctantly, but by the end of our conversation, I knew: this was exactly what I had been looking for.
Helping people reach their goals, building something of value, and knowing that my hard work benefits both my clients and my family—it all clicked. I started working open houses with my friend right away and got licensed in 2012. In my first eight months as a REALTOR®, I closed six transactions, even in a tough market. It felt amazing.
At the same time, my personal life was falling apart. My marriage was ending, and I was awarded full custody of our three daughters—Ashley, Emily, and Elizabeth—and her son, Alex. Becoming a single dad to four kids brought on an entirely new level of challenge. They were dealing with grief, confusion, and anger, and I was doing my best to hold it all together. Real estate gave me the flexibility to show up for them emotionally and physically, even during the hardest days.
In 2018, I married Paola. She brought balance into my life, helping me grow as a father, a husband, and a REALTOR®. She embraced my kids with love and has supported me through everything, including one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced.

It started in 2023, when a routine infection somehow spiraled into heart failure. I ended up in the ER needing emergency surgery. Doctors discovered a tumor on my pancreas and diagnosed me with pancreatitis. Things got serious fast. I underwent five more surgeries for complications involving both my pancreas and heart. Eventually, I met with an oncologist who told me I had additional tumors that could become cancerous. In a seven-hour surgery, they removed 80% of my pancreas and two tumors.
This experience turned my world upside down. It forced me to slow down, reassess my life, and focus on healing. I’m now committed to living a life that supports my health—less stress, more movement, and intentional self-care.
As difficult as it’s been, this health journey also reminded me of who I am: I don’t give up. Resilience is in my blood. No matter what life throws my way, I get back up—stronger, wiser, and more committed to my purpose.
This chapter of my life has deepened my motivation and sharpened my focus. I approach my work with more clarity, energy, and appreciation than ever before. I’m incredibly grateful and motivated to continue serving my clients with passion and excellence.
My resilience translates well to my business. Even when clients start to lose faith, I don’t give up. I know we can make it. I’ll find a creative solution to get us to the finish line. Even in negotiations, I don’t back down when the other party resists collaboration—I always find a way forward.
Seeing the joy and relief on a client’s face when a transaction is complete makes all the hard work worth it. When you work with me, I’ll answer all your questions to ensure you feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire process.
It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of such an important transition in your life. I’m motivated every day to help clients because I know how much it impacts their future. My experience in the industry gives me the skills to assess contracts thoroughly and negotiate the best possible deal for my clients. I work tirelessly to help them achieve their goals.
And once the transaction is complete, my support doesn’t stop there—I’ll be your REALTOR® for life.
Sincerely,

Scott Guyson
